This week’s featured artist is Big Choowy The Don.
Who is Big Choowy The Don?
I’m an engineer, producer and a artist who believes the world will love my distinct sound, which is beats and mixes like no other entertainer delivers. I’m a DC native who combines go go and hip hop into a sound that I call “Crank”. Check out the “No Mee (Remix)” with TOB! It won bouncebeat song of the year!
What do you have to overcome to be a national act?
It will take a major label to gamble on a city filled with good music and artists, strong promotions and collaborations, business put in place by artists and DJs setting the bar now about what’s hot. It’s a two headed sword. The game has many levels and lots of changes. So to be national you needed business and promotional talents beyond the music to earn serious money in being national with shows, royalties and endorsements from advertisers.
Tell us about your new single.
The single “Trappen” features Buggy and Sauce of Backyard, whose percussion delivers a genuine live sound that reminds you of funk era. The track features the Carter Boys, and keyboards and production from Moon and 45 of Urban Intalek Recordings. It was executive produced by Andre “Pa Pa” Latimore. He’s talking to a label and regardless of the talks he’s having with the majors, he hasn’t given up his indie Like That Records. We ain’t duckng no shows, no place in the WORLD we CRANK!
