In February 2012, after a day of swimming in Los Angeles, the R&B superstar found herself with a “hair emergency.” Conditioner couldn’t cut through her matted locks, so Rihanna flew all the way to London for a session with hairstylist Ursula Stephens, the only person she’d trust with the job. The whole episode reportedly cost the Bajan beauty $23,000, but Stephens sorted her out in time for her appearance on “The Jonathan Ross Show.”

Stephens has been Rihanna’s hairstylist for some time, and the singer has kept her busy. Between November 2010, when she dyed her hair bright red, and August 2011, Rihanna changed hair color 13 times. During that stretch, she paid Stephens nearly $23,000 per week, according to various sources. Ursula Stephens commands $3,300 per day, and given that she’s responsible for RiRi’s iconic choppy haircut, she may well be worth every penny.
