Up and coming white rapper Mac Miller is getting a lesson that the music business is a business first. He is being sued by legendary rapper/producer Lord Finesse for unauthorized use of Finesse’s 1995 song “Hip 2 Da Game.”
Lord Finesse filed a $10 million lawsuit against Mac Miller for using the instrumental for his single “Hip 2 Da Game” which was the third single from Finesse’s album The Awakening. The Mac Miller song in the middle of the lawsuit is “Kool-Aid & Frozen Pizza (The Kool-Aid Song).” Mac’s song is on his mixtape K.I.D.S.: Kickin’ Incredibly Dope Sh*t.

In court documents, Lord Finesse stated, “This is a case about a teenage rapper- Mac Miller- copying the music from a song written, produced and performed by Lord Finesse, a hip hop legend, changing the title and then distributing it under his own name in order to launch his music career.” The Diggin In The Crates Crew member also said he filed the suit after various cease and desist letters were ignored by Mac Miller, DatPiff.com, Rostrum Records.
Mac Miller has yet to respond to the suit at this time.
