Jamar Simmons (pictured), a Baltimore City fireman, has been accused of running a prostitution ring from his renovated apartment in the southwest part of the city, The Baltimore Sun reports.

His alleged accomplice, 33-year-old Franklin Coit, has also been accused of participating in the alleged ring.

Simmons has been charged with seven offenses, most of which are related to running a prostitution business. Coit has been charged with similar counts.

On July 9, cops raided Simmons’ home where they found a stage with two floor-to-ceiling poles, a bar with a DJ booth, two bedrooms, a kitchen and lockers labeled with the alleged prostitutes nicknames.

The Sun has more on what cops reportedly found inside of the apartment:

In one room, court records say, police found a chalkboard with written reminders to the women. Among them: do not mention sex for money on the phone, always search clients for police wires and tout the location of the third-story, loft-style apartment in the 200 block of S. Pulaski Street as being just 10 minutes from downtown.

“Ask about law enforcement!” the board warned, according to court records.

Simmons’ attorney, Warren Brown, told The Sun that his client is innocent, arguing that what the cops saw was nothing more than an after-hours spot.

“It’s not unlike a lot of situations around the city,” Brown said. “After hours, once the bars close down at 2 [a.m.], these people still got a lot of energy, and they’re looking for things to do, places to go, eat, smoke, drink and be merry.”

Coit, according to The Sun, does not have an attorney listed in his case.

In 2010, Simmons and Coit were arrested for allegedly transporting a prostitute to an arranged sexual encounter with an undercover cop. He was given probation and sentenced to a year of unsupervised probation and a $300 fine. All charges against Coit were dropped in that case.
