Not even a mini riot could stop the high-energy crowd from enjoying Howard University’s legendary International Yardfest on Friday. Headliner 2 Chainz surprised everyone when he brought out fellow G.O.O.D. Music artist Pusha T, but it wasn’t until Drake jumped on stage wearing a red Howard crew neck that brought the crowd over the edge. Media barricades went tumbling to the ground, along with some photographers, as a screaming crowd rushed the stage.
After Drake performed, he made a confession to the crowd just a few days after receiving his GED. ”I’m trying to come to school with you all,” the Young Money rapper said.
Drake’s performance and confession weren’t the only surprises. Meek Mill withstood the rainy weather to rock with the crowd and even brought out T.I. The atmosphere was lively until the rain picked up and the equipment got soaked.
Other performers included Naughty by Nature, Beenie Man, Sir Michael Rocks and a few local artists.
