The Internet fake kills a celebrity everyday it seems. Today, Wale fake dies in a car wreck in Auburn, AL. No worries. He’s still alive.

I come across the Facebook status above this morning and immediately go to CNN’s Twitter and see no such tweet. But I do see a bunch of retweets on Twitter of the following.

“RT @CNN rapper Wale has been pronounced dead in Auburn, AL. Cops investigate, more details coming soon http://t.co/ghpJtZrn

Twitter users retweeted a fake tweet that supposedly came from CNN’s Twitter. The link goes to a story about Manti T’eo’s fake girlfriend, which is, ironically, another story that didn’t really happen. Apparently, somebody went through a lot of work. They even doctored up this “screenshot”  below from Auburn’s local newspaper, which isn’t the Auburn- Opelika News. It’s the Opelika-Auburn News.

Of course, Wale refutes the whole thing by posting a photo on his Instagram after the hoax broke with a response calling people who wish for his death “evil”.

In order for there to be good… There must be evil… Wishing another persons demise is evil. At the end of the day it’s music.. Just music.. And the participants in this “game” are all human. There is power in the tongue .
