Fiasco is right!

The past several days have been about President Barack Obama, and his second Inauguration.  Well, I am here to report that everything was not as peachy as it should be.  Fellow Chicagoan, Lupe Fiasco, is not as excited about Obama’s second term as everyone else.  Last night at the StartUp RockOn concert, held at  Hamilton Live, Lupe Fiasco’s performance was cut short.  Fiasco was removed from the stage as the crowd, and the parties promoters were not pleased with his performance.

Lupe Fiasco decided to perform, “Words I Never Said”, which eventually turned into a 30 minute “rant”.  Here are some of the lyrics :

“And these the same people supposedly telling us the truth/ Limbaugh is a racist, Glenn beck is a racist, Gaza strip was getting bombed, Obama didn’t say sh–/ That’s why I ain’t vote for him, next one either/ I’m part of the problem, my problem is I’m peaceful,” Lupe rapped.”

Through the lyrics, one can see why everyone was a little livid with his song choice.  Organizers for StartUp RockOn concert, HyperVocal, released this statement :

“This was not about his opinions. Instead, after a bizarrely repetitive, jarring performance that left the crowd vocally dissatisfied, organizers decided to move on to the next act,” HyperVocal said in a statement to the press.”

Whether it was time for the next act, or displeasure from the performance, Lupe Fiasco probably shouldn’t have been asked to perform anyway.  There is records showing that he isn’t an Obama fan nor supporter.  I enjoy music that he puts out, but his actions from last night are not a good look at all.

I understand that everyone has an opinion, and that I do respect.  However, there is a time and place for everything, and last night was not it.
