Lil Boosie, real name Torrence Hatch, was released from  Louisiana’s Angola State Penitentiary last night after serving 4 years of an 8 year prison sentence for drug conviction and probation violation.

The Advocate reports:

Hatch, who was serving an eight-year sentence on drug charges, left Angola just after 7 p.m. in a prison van, Warden Burl Cain said.

“He is free,” Cain said, noting that Hatch, 31, remains on supervised parole until 2018.

Cain said a prison van took Hatch to a West Feliciana Parish Sheriff’s Office substation Wednesday night, where the rapper was met by friends and family who picked him up and took him to New Orleans.

Until Wednesday, Hatch’s projected release date was in May. But when Hatch completed a “self-help” program Wednesday afternoon, the credit earned from the program made him immediately eligible for release, Cain said.

Immediately after being released and welcomed home by his family, sources say Lil Boosie scheduled a press conference to address media.

The Examiner reports:

Rapper Lil Boosie will reportedly speak at an event in New Orleans on March 10, according to an invitation that was sent to the media Wednesday and organized by Atlantic Records. “He will absolutely be there,” an Atlantic Records representative said. “He’ll be speaking to the press for the first time, after his release.”
