Grammy award winner Lupe Fiasco is back with another socially conscious song. The topic, cancer. In a recent MSNBC interview with Tamron Hall, Lupe discussed his new role as a celebrity ambassador for Stand Up to Cancer, raising money for the cause and his newest song “Mission”, which already has critics raving. In the song, Lupe uses personal testimonies from cancer survivors within his poignant lyrics. How did Lupe go about picking such a topic? Well, just like many of us, he is no stranger to cancer because the illness has affected people close to him. Now, this song isn’t intended to have people pulling the pity card, but to help lift their spirits and empower them to know they are still alive to fight another day and fight the illness that has taken so many lives.
