Or maybe you are currently facing breast cancer yourself. When you join the American Cancer Society volunteer family, you’ll unite with people in your community who have been affected by breast cancer and you will use your passion to save more lives to make this breast cancer’s last century. Because silence won’t finish this fight action will.

Our volunteers help with important event details such as registration, water stations, information and more. Want to take your dedication to end breast cancer to the next level? AMERIHEALTH DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA SHINES SPOTLIGHT ON BREAST CANCER AWARENESS

Washington, D.C. —AmeriHealth District of Columbia, the largest Medicaid managed care organization in the District of Columbia and a member of the AmeriHealth Caritas Family of Companies, is collaborating with It’s In The Genes LLC (IITG), a local advocacy organization, to better inform women about breast cancer through a series of breast cancer awareness workshops called “Pinkie Parties.”

The workshops provide hundreds of AmeriHealth District of Columbia members with free breast cancer screenings throughout the spring and summer. The next workshop will be held at Providence Hospital, 1150 Varnum Street, N.E. on Saturday, October 25.

The events create a fun environment in which women learn firsthand about the importance of mammograms, biopsies and cancer treatment. The workshops are designed to alleviate concerns and fears while bringing women together to encourage one another to get screened early and often. Aside from breast cancer screenings, the workshops include music, dancing, exercise demonstrations and educational talks. Attendees will receive free mammograms, diabetes testing and body fat testing, as well as information about mastectomy supplies, genetic testing and wigs.

The workshops support anyone recently diagnosed with breast cancer, honor breast cancer survivors and increase awareness.
