BET Hip Hop Awards 2013 - Arrivals

TDE is undoubtedly one of the hottest hip-hop labels in music, and 2016 is shaping up to be their year.

After Kendrick Lamar nabbed five Grammys for his critically acclaimed album To Pimp A Butterfly, the Top Dawg Entertainment team is moving full steam ahead with their roster’s releases. CEO Anthony “Top Dawg” Tiffith teased the arrival of new projects coming from all six of the label’s artists.

According to notes from the man himself, ScHoolboy Q’s album, which is undergoing sample clearances, is next up in the queue. SZA, Isaiah Rashad, and Ab-Soul are still working out the creative structure behind their new projects, with SZA’s forthcoming release in “4th stage creative.”

With Jay Rock still recovering from his motorcycle accident, Top wrote “ER” next to his name, which means there may be a possibility he’ll be able to finish his new project by the end of the year. Kendrick rounds out the bottom of the list with three question marks next to his name.

Top also revealed that TDE has two new artists in the chamber, John Doe 1 and John Doe 2. As of now, we don’t know who these two mystery artists could be, but TDE is six for six with great picks. In 2017, the label hopes to release a Black Hippy project as well.

Welp, TDE has a lot of work to do, but who said being the best was easy?
