ATTENTION: THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST BUT THIS CONTEST IS NOW OVER.
Hey family! Going back to school is a big deal for young people in the DMV! It can also be a stressful time for parents trying to make sure your kids go back to school prepared and in style…especially during this RECESSION! For all the young ladies out there I know that your hair is very important when it comes to going back to school but that due to tough times parents may not be able to get their daughters’ hair done.
My girl Sharon from Hair & Art Intelligence in Capital Heights, MD is allowing me to select several girls whose hair she will do FREE of charge! I am reading all of your comments and can’t wait to select a few lucky young ladies to help look goooood! Make sure you are listening every night from 6 pm -10 pm. You have until Monday to leave your comment!
Thank You ![]()

Greetings Angie Ange.. Please contact me. I am not in search of getting my daughters hair done. I am the mother of two children(daughter 18, in her 2nd year @ Temple U, & son 15, in his Junior year of high school). Though times are trying right now, I would love to assist you with this and offer to assist you with getting an additional young womans hair done. I am not sure how many you are planning on sponsoring. But, please reach out to me. I don’t listen to the radio often or search the internet much unless it is work related, but came across this is in an email sent by WKYS and have taken the time to register, so that I can reach out. I look forward to communicating with you soon. I hope that you can get my info from what I completed by registering.

Hello Angie Ange
I’m contacting you on behalf of my daughter who is going to the 9th grade and a high school as new as five (5) years. She will be attending a new school different than the ones her three (3) siblings attended. We both would greatly appreciate her getting off to a fresh new look and we both know that you are as good as you look and feel. Her hair is gravely uneven and hitting and missing in between. Her hair has been in extended platts all summer in the hopes that it would grow in the barely there spots. In the past year she was seeing a professional stylist and it has improved a smidgen. However, we are unable to visit her as often as needed because our financial needs are needed elsewhere to maintain necessities. Therefore, myself and my eldest daughter have been her stylist. We have done the best that we could and we would greatly appreciate you selecting her to receive a back to school dew. In the unlikely event she is not selected, we would like to thank you for this opportunity and continue to help our society by improving their looks inside and out. Keep up the good work that you do. God Bless You.

Hello,
My name is Kathryn and I am asking not for my daughter to get her hair done but my little cousin. She is like a daughter to me in that I have been taking care of her for the entire summer every summer since she was 8 yrs old. She is now 12 and growing into a young lady and she likes too look cute for her friends, but her mother doesn’t exactly do her hair properly. Every time she comes to my house I do her hair but it has gotten to a point where I just do not know what to do with it and her school starts next week. If I had the money i would pay for her to get it done just so she could look pretty on her first day of school, but I am a full time college student and I have a son that turns 1 this Friday. I hope that she could win this contest because as you said on the radio her hair is a “hot mess”.Thank you for your time.

Dear Ms. Angie, it would mean the world to my sister if she was chosen for this contest. She excels at math, has won many 1st and 2nd place metals for track, and has a healthy body and radiant smile. However, all her good qualities are occluded by her low self-esteem. Because my mother has less time to tend to her hair, my sister’s braids become fuzzy and unkempt, and it saddens me to hear my sister berate herself. Even when we try to ask my father for help in hair department, he refuses to finance our efforts because he believes school is of sole importance in our lives, and gives little attention to our cosmetic wants. As a result, my sister is often depressed and downtrodden, and these feelings are compounded with teasing from other students at her high school. Everyday, after she comes from school, she calls me with another story about how someone has called her stupid, called her a b***h, or called her the n word. I do my best to reiterate her good qualities and to enforce the idea that she a beautiful, smart, and gifted young woman but in light of all these negative events in her life-she fails to believe me. I believe, however, with the help of something a simple as a new hairdo, her outlook can be brightened. Thank you.
