5 Makeup Mistakes Women Make

Glamour is on the rise; with more and more women having interest in makeup everyone is diving right into trends. Below is my list of top 5 Makeup Mistakes I see women make. Whether it is lipstick that makes you look dead, to blush that has me thinking you’re working for Ringling Bros; these things need to be abolished in 2012.

5. Nude Lipstick gone wrong. Every woman wants that perfect Kim Kardashian nude pout, but what they fail to realize is it takes a lot more than just swiping on a shade of light lipstick to achieve the look. If you’re wearing a lipstick severely lighter than your natural skin tone it’s important to line your lips with a color close to your coloring to soften the look. And remember glossy shades are more forgiving than matte ones with this trend. Nude is great, looking dead isn’t.

4. Clown Blush. Don’t get me wrong, I love color, I think everyone should incorporate color into his or her look. But a lot of women skip foundation, and go right into blush. When you wear a bright color blush without any type of foundation underneath it comes across very hard. If you absolutely refuse to wear foundation, opt for more mineral based blushes, which are much finer and will blend with your skin much nicer.

3. Hard Lip Liner. I absolutely hate when women wear their lip liner 10x darker than their lip color. All this does is age your overall appearance, and draws attention right to your lips. If you MUST rock a darker lip liner, apply it AFTER your lip color to create a softer line.

2. EYELASHES. Fake eyelashes can really do a lot for a woman’s eye shape and softening her face as a whole. But when a lot of women are getting their lashes “done” at these local nail shops, things go terribly wrong. The price tag for lash extensions/individuals in a proper environment is as high as $500, so when you’re only paying $45 that should be a red flag. A lot of these shops are using a regular strip lash along with NAIL glue to give your lashes their longevity, very unsafe and unattractive. Your lashes shouldn’t buckle at the lash line.

1. EYEBROWS! I’ve seen women use a black eyeliner pencil to fill in their eyebrows, all the way to making them entirely too thin, then back to the thick line of 8 shades too light concealer under the brow. Less is more, unless you’re very skilled in makeup, the less you do to your brows, the better. Using a simple hair like stroke to lightly fill in your brows will do just enough to frame your face, all the theatrics is not necessary.
