(Washington, DC) — President Obama is calling for economic fairness. In his third State of the Union address to a joint session of Congress, Obama cited economic inequality.
He said the U.S. cannot “settle for a country where a shrinking number of people do really well, while a growing number of Americans barely get by.” The President called for a nation, “where everyone gets a fair shot, everyone does their fair share and everyone plays by same set of rules.” Obama urged Congress to extend payroll tax cuts through this year, saying it should be done with “no drama” and “without delay.” He also called for an ambitious new program to train two million Americans with new job skills.
