(Raeford, NC)  –  A preschool in North Carolina is accused of telling a four-year-old student her homemade lunch is not healthy enough.  The “Carolina Journal” is reporting it happened at WestHoke Elementary School in Raeford.  The homemade lunch included a turkey and cheese sandwich, banana, potato chips, and apple juice.  However, the little girl ended up eating chicken nuggets from the school cafeteria.  This, after a state inspector said the child’s packed lunch did not meet all USDA nutrition standards.  The inspector apparently found it lacked a required vegetable.  However, the child’s mother says her daughter is a picky eater who does not like veggies.  She says the little girl will only eat vegetables at home under supervision.  The mother also says she resents the school charging her a dollar-25 for the chicken nuggets.  State and or federal law requires lunches served in pre-kindergarten programs meet USDA nutrition standards.
