It was announced yesterday via press conference in Jacksonville, FL that neighborhood watchman turned killer, George Zimmerman has been charged with 2nd degree murder and was placed in custody. At the time, he had no legal representation after being in hiding for the weeks after he fatally shot Trayvon Martin.

Now Zimmerman has a lawyer again–Attorney Mark O’Mara–and he has made a statement claiming that Zimmerman will plead not guilty to his 2nd degree murder charges. O’Mara doesn’t want people jumping to conclusions about his client. Too late, right? He says he’s “hoping that the community will calm down” now that charges have been filed and the case is moving forward. If Zimmerman is convicted of this crime, he could face life in prison. Well-deserved, no?

Zimmerman will be making a court appearance today at 1:30 p.m.
