Community organizations across the DMV have been rallying citizens to get out and vote. Recently, a coalition of organizations and local rappers sponsored “Promote the Vote 2012”, a Bi-Partisan event aimed at educating, and creating an awareness  of the importance of all eligible individuals exercising their right to Vote. “Promote The Vote 2012” took place at the Historic Big Chair in Anacostia, SE Washington, D.C. The organizations provided a network of information, and access to community programs that work towards providing education, health, housing, development, assistance and social support. In addition, the DC Board of Elections also presented voting poll demonstrations and literacy information brochures.

DJ Underdog provided the soundtrack for the event along with a West African Drum performance by Rakhel Yisrael. DC Rappers Kid Cash and Cha Love both performed politically conscious music that moved and energized the crowd providing a scene to shoot the 2012 remake of the Young Jeezy classic “My President Black”.  Check out the video below:
