Eminem has sold more records and sold out more shows that most every other artist in his generation in the world. But even he has his weaknesses.

Eminem is Marshall Mathers. And Marshall Mathers is an addict. Addiction takes many forms in many people, but for Marshall it was pills. Lots of them. Like ‘shutting down his organs’ lots of them.

The first time he took vicodin, Mathers says he felt this feeling of ‘Aaaaahhh.’ Anyone who’s ever been addicted knows that feeling. It’s that sensation of comfort and peace that is the body’s response to a narcotic they will immediately be addicted to and maybe even give their life for.

Rap is fueled by unwavering confidence, swagger and a feeling of invulnerability. In his candor, Eminem is none of that. He is clear, he is direct, he is contrite and he is honest about his weaknesses and the battles he underwent to come through them alive.

His next album is gonna be cool as hell.
