At one point, Kendrick Lamar was not a household name, but slowly and surely it is becoming very familiar; especially in the Hip Hop home. Just weeks after ruffling the feathers of his rap colleagues, Kendrick Lamar is taking the top spot for this year’s Soul Train Music Award nominations.
As the nominations were announced, K Dot is up for 6 nominations, including album of the year for “good kid, m.A.A.d city” and song and video of the year for “Poetic Justice.” Lamar’s nominations include best new artist, hip-hop song of the year and collaboration.
Not trailing too far behind is Tamar Braxton, Justin Timberlake, Miguel, Robin Thicke, and Chris Brown with five nods.
The Soul Train Awards will be presented Nov. 8 at the Orleans Arena in Las Vegas. The awards will air Dec. 1 on BET and Centric.
