While the details are still sorting themselves out, the nation has been keeping their eye on Florida State and their star Quarterback, Jameis Winston and the allegations surrounding his name. The star Quarterback is involved in a 2012 sexual assault case in which the accuser claims that she was encouraged by Tallahassee Police not to press charges. The family of the accuser released a statement to the Tampa Bay Times talking about how shady Tallahassee investigators and police have been and how they believe that was a result of how big of a football town the area is. The family believes they were urged to keep quiet because the town did not want to lose it’s star quarterback.

On December 7 of 2012, the victim made police aware of the alleged sexual assault and gave her a sexual assault kit (Never heard of that- Ever). On Tuesday of this week, DNA samples from the victims underwear matched that of the Heisman hopeful and while he has yet to be charged of any crime, the entire nation is watching to see what happens next.

“We fully understand there is immense interest in this nationwide case,” said  police chief Tom Coe . “My role as police chief is to protect the rights of everyone involved, the integrity of this investigation and to make sure it’s conducted fairly and impartially.”

Sources say that Winston never denied being there and that they were not surprised at the results of the DNA sample. ”We are not surprised with the results of the DNA,” Tim Jansen, Winston’s attorney said. “We voluntarily submitted to a DNA, the only thing we are surprised by is it was leaked out by law enforcement. The question the people should ask is why is it being leaked? For what purpose?” He went on to say that this case should be over by next week based on the eye witness accounts.

Crazy how people try to pull you down when you’re making it. Keep your head up Jameis!
