There are few actors working in the field today as versatile as Samuel L. Jackson. From action epics to intimate character studies to Nick Fury, he’s done it all on film – and in style. But today, we’re here to talk about the Jackson that everyone knows and loves: the imminently quotable badass.

His trademark badass personality has become legendary over the course of the last couple of decades and has proven to elevate other movies beyond what they could reach by themselves. In honor of the new clip from his latest film “Big Game,” in which he fights terrorists alongside a 13-year-old as the President of the United States, here are some of Samuel L’s most badass moments. Check out the clip below!

The Octopus in “The Spirit”

While not many people saw this one, and even fewer liked it, Jackson still managed to turn The Octopus into a weird amalgamation of swagger and surreal glamour.

Also he smashes a toilet over a man’s head.

Neville Flynn in “Snakes On A Plane”

Need anyone say more at this point?

Jules Winnfield in “Pulp Fiction”

A bonafide badass in a movie full of them, Jackson’s Jheri-curled hit man launched both his and director’s Quentin Tarantino‘s respective careers in the mid 1990s. Ezekiel 25:17 never sounded so good.

Ordelle Robbie in “Jackie Brown”

Another Jackson/Tarantino collaboration, this one dedicated to blaxploitation features, Jackson plays an L.A. gun runner who helps protagonist Jackie Brown (the legendary Pam Grier) get back into the business.

John Shaft in “Shaft”

Shaft is Shaft. He busts criminals. He puts boys on the right path. He pistol whips. He revitalizes old movie properties. He’s SHAFT!

Lucius Best/Frozone in “The Incredibles”

A cool family man with ice powers and the ability to charm police officers? That has Samuel L. Jackson written all over.

Nick Fury in The Marvel Cinematic Universe

Fury’s persona in the Ultimate comics was based on Jackson, so you know he’s gotta be crazy cool. As the leader of S.H.I.E.L.D., not only did Fury start the Marvel Cinematic Universe and not only did he wrangle together heroes who couldn’t be more different and forces them to work as a team, he guns down a fighter jet.
