The Memphis chefs who hosted the popular Food Network show “Down Home With the Neelys” released a joint statement on their upcoming divorce stating their decision to part was for the “best”:

“Today we announce that we are ending our marriage of 20 years for irreconcilable differences. This was a tough decision, but we believe it is the best decision for us. As parents of two beautiful adult daughters that we love dearly, we will continue to be involved in each other’s lives as parents and friends. Together we have built a strong brand as The Neely’s. Moving forward our focus will be on our individual brands and we are optimistic about our respective futures. We ask for your prayers as we go through this transition and honor our request for privacy at this time.”

The couple shot to fame beginning in 2008, when their top-ratings performing reality show first aired on the Food Network channel.  The show depicted the couple conjuring up tummy-pleasing good eats out of their Memphis kitchen. What made the show so popular according to critics was the fact that both Gina and Pat appeared to be genuinely in love as they toyed with each other and made sexual innuendos as they stirred up goodies.

Pat and Gina, who also just released a best-selling cookbook, “Back Home with the Neelys: Comfort Food from our Southern Kitchen to Yours,” closed their popular Memphis eatery last year to each pursue separate partnerships.  Gina Neely’s George Foreman Weight Loss Challenge is a new line of Green Giant foods, while Pat has inked a deal with the nationwide Family Dollar chain to show budget-conscious folks how to food shop on a dime.

Meanwhile, the couple also share four properties but are reportedly unsure as to how to split them fairly. If they, however, cannot come to an agreement, the court will decide for them.

According to WMC Action News 5, unnamed sources reveal that the Neelys still love each other but have unfortunately drifted apart.
