On Sunday our fairy Godmother Oprah interviewed actress Raven Symone on her segment where are they now. Jassosocial.com reports, Prior to airing, our little Olivia tweeted a series of tweets as if it was a warning or if she was preparing for the negative backlash she would receive.
As Oprah began deciphering the many layers of Symone, she was shocked when she said
“I’m not African American, I’m American.”

Not being labeled is one thing disowning heritage is another. I can’t lie and say her response didn’t make me feel a certain type of way. On the contrary,I understand the whole “boxed in” thing but I’m not sure I would’ve blatantly said it like Symone.
