Kim Kardashian doesn’t regret much about the way she’s lived, but she insists she didn’t become famous because of her sex tape.
Arguably, Kim had made plenty of regrettable decisions in her life. She ended her marriage to Kris Humphries after just 72 days and a lavish TV wedding. She’s had her booty X-Rayed on TV. She cried on TV a LOT during her relationship with Reggie Bush. She forgot her child in a building because she was focused on a photo op. We could go on.
But of all the things she’s experienced in life, her sex tape with Ray J is the one thing she’d want a do-over for. “If I do have one regret in life that’s it,” she told Love magazine, where she again posed nude.
People have harped on Kim and her reputation ever since the tape came out. It was nothing but fodder to fuel the hate when her reality show, “Keeping Up With the Kardashians” debuted months later. If you ask most people, her sex tape is why she’s famous today, but Kim swears that’s not how she made a name for herself.
“Maybe that’s how some people heard of me but I didn’t launch my career off of that. That was 12 years ago—no, 13 years ago,” Kim stated. “I just try to move on and put it in the past because I think everyone in life does things that they’re not proud of but you can’t sit and dwell on them forever.”
How some people heard of you, Kim? Seriously?! That’s how most people know of Kim! Before that, she was best known as one of Paris Hilton’s hangers-on/assistant.
Granted, she and the rest of the Kardashian clan have had a major come up ever since the tape came out and their show premiered. No one can take that away from Kim. Her momager, Kris Jenner, has helped her to spin a scandal into an empire for the entire family. That’s no small accomplishment.
It would be one thing if she acknowledged that the sex tape put her and her family on the map. For her to act as if that it wasn’t a huge catalyst for her career as a reality star with no discernable talent is laughable. The Kardashians have been trying to sweep that under the rug for years, but it’s one speck that can’t be wiped from their history.
