The family of a 19-year-old Black college football star is searching for answers after he was fatally shot by a Texas police officer following an alleged robbery on Friday.

According to USA Today reports, Christian Taylor was a suspect in an attempted robbery and crashed his SUV into a car dealership window just moments before being confronted by officer Brad Miller. Miller claims there was “a struggle” between he and Taylor which ultimately led to the fatal shot being fired.

Due to the Arlington Police Department not yet putting a policy in place that requires their officers to wear body cameras, there is no footage of the confrontation. No word on whether the security cameras in place at the dealership captured any what happened, but Taylor’s great uncle Clyde Fuller says he’s still doubtful about the accusations against Christian. He described Christian as “a good kid” and told the the Fort-Worth Star Telegram: “They say he’s burglarizing the place by running up in there? Nuh-uh. Something doesn’t sound right.”

Officer Brad Miller was still under “supervised field training” at the time of the shooting and had been with department less than a year. Christian Taylor was a sophomore at Angelo State University in Texas.
