This week’s Art Basel has taken a bloody turn.
One female attendee of the Miami Beach event was stabbed in the arms and neck following a fight with another woman armed with an X-Acto knife on Friday. As if the attack wasn’t alarming enough, onlookers apparently mistook the violent scene for “performance art.”
The Miami Herald reports: “Both women were patrons of the art show, not exhibitors. Some patrons thought the stabbing was a performance art presentation. Others believed the police tape cordoning off an area of the convention center was part of an art installation.”
According to Gawker, one artist even believe the blood was merely fake. Fortunately, the victim’s injuries are non-life threatening.
