It’s only been a week since Beyoncé dropped the video and song “Formation”, but the ripple effect it’s caused in White America has been a spectacle. To say the least..
Fox News was upset, Rudy Giuliani said “she used it as a platform to attack police officers” and a plethora of talking heads were offended by her Super Bowl 50 performance.
Who knew in a country that kills dozens of unarmed Black men and women annually, that a video referencing police violence would be so offensive?
But the overarching reaction from White people was actually of less vitriol. They were tame and quiet in their hurt. Why? Because for the first time, they weren’t in the club.
Dressed in black bodysuits, leather straps and Black Panthers’ berets, singing “You mix that negro with that Creole make a Texas bama,” –for the first time in her entire solo career White people realized at Super Bowl 50 that Queen Bey isn’t a race-neutral singing puppet.
Beyoncé is and has always been a Black woman.
Fast forward to last night’s Saturday Night Live episode when one of the pre-recorded comedy sketches was a trailer for a horror movie in which White America finds out the truth. And honestly, it’s HILARIOUS.
Watch and enjoy, above!
