Family members of police brutality victims are letting their voices be heard in the midst of the presidential election.

Trayvon Martin‘s mother Sybrina Fulton wrote an op-ed for CNN saying that she plans to vote for Hillary Clinton.

“The rising generation of our young people need a president who will stand up to inaction from Republicans and indifference from the National Rifle Association. I believe that person is Hillary Clinton. I know Clinton is tough enough to wage this fight. I’ve seen her do it for years” said Fulton in editorial.

“In spending some time with her in person, I also found a mother and a grandmother who truly heard me, and understood the depth of my loss” added Fulton.

Erica Garner, the daughter of Eric Garner who was filmed on video being placed in a police chokehold while uttering the words, “I Can’t Breathe”, recently endorsed Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders in a riveting campaign ad.

“I believe Bernie Sanders is a protester. He’s not scared to go up against the criminal justice system” said Garner. “I’m behind anyone who is going to listen, who is going to speak up for us. I think we need to believe in a leader like Bernie Sanders” she added.

Ironically, Erica Garner’s mother, Gwen Carr is supports Hillary Clinton. When asked whether it’s a generational divide, Erica didn’t hesitate to say, “Let’s keep it real, Hillary’s been flip-flopping and confused her whole life. She hasn’t stuck to one thing. We need consistency, especially kids and young people. We need someone who’s going to talk about our issues and not use our issues as a political pawn just to get our vote.”

Well it seems as if, Geneva Reed-Veal mother of the late Sandra Bland is joining Carr’s crusade to elect Hillary.

During a Chicago rally, Reed-Veal introduced Clinton by mentioning that the pair had something in common. “I’ve watched and followed [Hillary’s] career and I saw her take the hits. Yet she still manages to stand here decades later like it didn’t bother her a bit,” Reed-Veal said.

“As Sandra Bland’s mother, I know a little bit about frustration. You have to stand and push through it, even when you want a vacation.”

When Clinton stepped up to the podium she said she ‘deeply admires and respects Geneva.’ The former Secretary of State went on to make a vow to the families of police brutality victims.

“We owe it to them to reform police practices to ensure that…no one is pulled over in their car for no good reason and then thrown into a jail where she’s found dead,” Clinton said.

“We owe it to the families of young men like Laquan McDonald and the others whose names we know all too well— Walter Scott, Freddie Gray, Tamir Rice, so many others.”

With the South Carolina primary’s approaching, Clinton is hoping to maintain a stronghold on the black vote and score a win against Sanders.

Beauties, do you think having the endorsement of well known families of police brutality victims will sway the black vote in either candidates favor? Does it seem exploitive of Clinton and Sanders to use these tragedies for their political gain?
