Ladies, make sure you’re maintaining those protective styles. A recently released study from researchers of Johns Hopkins School of Medicine has shown that women who pull their hair tightly back in certain styles face a heightened risk of losing their hair later in life. Nearly 33% of Black women suffer from varying degrees of traction alopecia caused by weaves, cornrows, tight ponytails and other styles that cause consistent stress on the hair roots.
