Effective in September Washington D.C. Police Chief Cathy Lanier will retire from her post as Chief of Police according to the DC Police Departments Twitter account. Lanier has 26 years on the force, the last 10 as the police chief. Lanier will still be busy as she will become the National Football League’s Head of Security.
Mayor Muriel E. Bowser will name a interim chief in the next couple of days.
