Actress and film producer, DeWanda Wise is the leading lady in Netflix’s, “She’s Gotta Have It” (available 11/23), and one thing’s for sure, she’s already got it!

In the Netflix adaptation of Spike Lee’s 1986 classic, we follow the life of Nola Darling, a woman who knows what she wants but can’t find it in just one man. Her solution? Date three men who offer her everything she needs while not being “owned” by any of them.

Like Nola Darling, DeWanda knows exactly what she wants and she won’t settle for less.  The Baltimore native sat down with Cassius to give us an inside scoop on her new role while, how far her co-stars are allowed to go on set and how “She’s Gotta Have It” plays a role in feminism.

On being married while still participating in sexy scenes:

We were very, very specific about what was and was not permitted. While viewers will only see the freedom of it, there’s a lot you don’t see. For example, you will never see any of my co-stars touching or fondling my boobs. There’s no frontal on the show. [My husband and I] were super specific about our love and marriage, and keeping what’s special and intimate, special and intimate. What turns me on, only Alano knows that.

DeWanda offers advice for those looking to spice up their own sex lives:

“Find a partner who shares your sexual appetite. I have friends who are crazy voyeuristic, but they’re compatible. They have the same vision and needs. For Alano and myself, we have the same need to be in person, so we make our time together a priority. I think step one is be on the same sexual page. Step two is keep exploring. There are workshops and classes. There’s so much you can do to explore what you like.”
