So apparently the South x Southwest Festival wasn’t all that Schoolboy Q expected it to be. The ‘Man of the Year’ rapper says that the over commercialization of the festival has driven out the fun that he used to experience as an attendee.
“It’s stupid. They changed it all up. It’s corporate,” he said while getting ready to perform on Saturday. “I don’t ever want to come back unless they change it to where the fans are in. I’m tired of performing and seeing my fans outside the gate. … That’s not fair. It’s not about the fans no more, it’s all about money, who can give you the best look.”
To say you won’t attend next year or any other festival, that’s a huge statement. I’m led to believe that this man is passionate about his views and also passionate about good music and the culture. Let’s watch closely to see if any changes will be made or see if anything comes from this.
