Damone Brooks, 19, a former student and basketball player at Springbrook High School in Silver Spring, Maryland, was hospitalized on April 20 following an accident when he was rough housing with his friends. He suffered misaligned vertebrae in his neck as well as a bruised spinal cord.

He is currently in rehabilitation at the Kennedy Krieger Institute.
