Rapper Rick Ross, who has been called out for his rape lyrics in the song “U.O.E.N.O.” by feminists around the country, tweeted a pseudo-apology that’s about as real as his name.

“Interpreted as” is not an apology; it is, however, a translucent attempt at damage control to appease his corporate sponsors, as proven by his next tweet:

Ross’ lyrics bragged about slipping drugs into a woman’s drink and taking her home to have sex with her while she was under the influence and unable to say no.

“Put molly all in her champagne, she ain’t even know it / I took her home and I enjoyed that, she ain’t even know it.”

Initially, Ross said that critics were misinterpreting his lyrics and that he never explicitly said “rape.”

See that ignorance below:

Unsurprisingly, Ross’ fake apology comes on the heels of mounting pressure against Reebok to drop him as a sponsor. Money talks; bullsh*t walks.

HuffPost Live host, Marc Lamont Hill, has been an outspoken critic of Ross’ lyrics and has joined the chorus calling for Reebok to sever ties with the Miami rapper. A Change.org petition calling for responsibility in rap music has approximately 1,800 signatures at the time this article was published.
