Upon delivering a pizza to a Sanford, Florida customer, a Papa John’s Pizza delivery man “butt dialed” the customer from the home that he had just delivered to, and left a voice mail message jam packed with racial slurs and complaints regarding his tip.
Wow! Sanford Florida, things are not looking too swift in your city! The world is already very familiar with the Trayvon Martin situation, and that it happened in Sanford, now you have this going on as well? Looks pretty bad, not just bad for Sanford, Florida but bad on Papa John’s Pizza as well. The Daily Kos posted the transcript:
Says The Victim;
This was a voice mail left on my phone by a Papa John’s Pizza employee. This is highly offensive, derogatory, and ignorant. I am appalled that there were no managers or supervisors (the managers and/ supervisors may even be the ones speaking throughout the recording…who knows) from stopping this kind of conversation in the work place. Everybody has a right to their opinions, however, there is a time and place to express them. As an African-American in this community and also someone who has always tipped their Delivery Drivers 21%+, I am disgusted entirely by this conversation. Instead of focusing on “better ingredients” and “better pizza”, they should prioritize “better integrity” and “better people” on the top of their ‘to-do list’.
This was part of what was said on the African American gentlemen’s voice mail;
Inaudible speaking- sounds like two people talking for about a minute and thirty seconds “You back??” “Yea!” “Did he tip you?” “Nope, not at all” “I guess that’s the only requirement for being a Nigger in Sanford. Yea.. They give me five bucks there-fine outstanding African American gentleman of the community” (Laughs..getting closer) “Well just tip me this f***kin Nigger. I’m like singing opera all the way home. I was like. “Niggaaaa….Nigga. Nigga-ro! Nigga-ro! Niiiiiigggggggaaaaaaa-roooooooooo!” (Laughs again) …”Oh my God…” “I got another Nigger song too. It’s an old one. It’s an instrumental but I put words to it, and its “Nigga-nig Nigga-nig Nigga-nig (laughs again) Nigga-nig Nigga-a-Nigger! F*ckin F*ckin F*ckin a Nig-a Nigger! (Keeps going) Nigga-nig Nigga-nig Nigga-nig (laughs again) Nigga-nig Nigger-a-Nigger! F*ckin F*ckin F*ckin a Nig-a Nigger! (Keeps going, coworkers laughing) Nigga-nig Nigga-nig Nigga-nig (really laughing now) Nigga-nig Nigga-a-Nigger! F*ckin F*ckin F*ckin a Nig-a Nigger! (Finale) F*ck F*ck F*ck the Nigger! He is one real big f*cking Nigger. Sometimes you need a two person for that (everyone bursts out in laughter)”
And it goes on and on. The couple that this happened to, not only posted the video of the racist voice-mail, but they also recorded their conversation with Papa John’s when they called back to check to see what happened to the individuals in the voice-mail.

This is just disgusting.
ABC News reported tonight that the CEO of Papa John’s made a statement about the incident.
Said John Schnatter;
“Friends, I am extremely concerned to learn about the reprehensible language used by two former employees in one of our restaurants,” the Facebook post stated. “Their thinking and actions defy both my personal and the company’s values, and everything for which this company stands. The employees “responsible for this absolutely unacceptable behavior were immediately terminated. My heartfelt apology goes out to the customer involved, his family and our community at large. I am very sorry that anyone would be exposed to these hurtful and painful words by any person involved in any way with our company.”
The apology would be even more heartfelt if something similar didn’t happen in a Papa John’s in 2012! In January of 2012, a Papa John’s employee wrote “Lady Chink Eyes” on a customer’s receipt in New York City. So this isn’t the first time Papa John’s employees were racist and disrespectful.
Yeah, we don’t blame the couple if they never eat there again, even though they deserve pizza for life after all that…or at least free pizza for one year x every time that idiot said the N word. That’s like 30 years worth of free pizza at least! But then, even if that did happen, how could they trust that something foul wasn’t done to their food? Yikes!
Good for the customer who stood up for himself and his family! We salute you sir.
