Kendrick Lamar!
To be considered someone “new” in Hip Hop (Kendrick has been around; just for facts) Kendrick Lamar is definitely making his mark! Last year, he dropped his debut album good kid, m.A.A.d city. The album itself was talk of the year, and also was part of the reason he landed the number one spot on MTV’s “Hottest MC’s List”. Clearly, K Dot is taking the place of your favorite rapper. With all that said, Kendrick Lamar is doing his thing, and that is shown with the latest news.
Lamar’s debut album good kid, m.A.A.d city, now has Platinum status! This news comes close to the ten month anniversary of the October 22nd release of the album. Some of the sale status has to be given to his ill verse on Big Sean’s “Control”, which helped move 9,000 units on the album. Sad that some folks took this long to get the album, but I know Kendrick is more happy than me that they did.
Now that Kendrick is Platinum status on his debut album, I’m sure that he will receive more credit and buzz for his talent. If you have not heard good kid, m.A.A.d city I highly suggest that you do whatever you need to to get an ear full. From the production, to the lyrics, down to the awesome throwback album cover, this is an album that is worth every bit of Platinum!
