Darrell Wallace Jr. Shines as Second Black Driver to Win NASCAR Race!
Do you hear the wheels spinning and the brakes screeching?! Well, it’s a good thing because Darrell Wallace Jr, has taken NASCAR by storm becoming the second black driver to win on a national level. It has been over half-century since the first black driver won on the NASCAR level–his name is Wendell Scott and now he has some company.
Wallace Jr. blew past the competition at the Martinsville Speedway and his excitement couldn’t be contained!
“This means everything,” the 20-year-old Wallace said. “This is an emotional win for me, especially doing it in Wendell Scott’s backyard. I love coming here to Martinsville; it’s always good to me. It finally paid off. I think it’s my third trip here. I love coming here. The fans are great here.”
