2015 NBA Finals - Game Six

The Golden State Warriors pushed their historic record to 53-5 on Saturday night with a victory against the Oklahoma City Thunder, but it was certainly no easy win.

After spending the first half of the game trailing OKC and having not led at all, the Warriors made a much-needed turn around during the second half. Although the team got off to a shaky start with shooting star (all pun) Steph Curry heading to the locker room at the beginning of the third quarter with an ankle injury, they were able to get back into the fight mid way through the quarter after Steph’s return. Facing one of the top offensive teams in the league, the Warriors continuously came up short against power plays by OKC front-runners Kevin Durant and Russell Westrbook, but still managed to tie the game at 75 early into the 4th quarter. The final minutes of the 4th quarter quickly turned into an exhilarating shootout between KD and Curry, with both teams scrambling to come away with the win. Then, with the Warriors down by 2 at just 0.7 seconds left, Dub Nation clutchman Andre Igoudala was sent to the freethrow line, where he knocked down both shots to tie the game and push the match up into over time.

Although KD fouled out less than a minute into OT, OKC continued to push the Warriors to their limit. However, in the end, they proved to be no match for Steph and his barrage of 3-pointers. With the game tied at 118 and less than a second to go, Steph hit a classic three-pointer from nearly half court to give the Warriors their 53rd win of the season. KD topped out at 37 points, while Steph finished with 46 points, also managing to tie his NBA record for most three-pointers in a game with 12 total. Even Mrs. Curry joined in to celebrate the Warrior’s  epic victory.

Oh what a night!
