Teen Knocked Off Her Bike, Choked and Tasered By Police Plans To Sue

In 2014, when Monique Tillman was 15-years-old, she was viciously assaulted by a police officer in a mall parking lot in Tacoma, Washington. Now two years later, she is filing a lawsuit against the owners of the mall, the officer involved and a private security firm, the Seattle Times reported

While visiting the mall with her older brother, the two were stopped in the parking lot by Jared Williams, a local police officer, who was driving close to the wheels of Tillman’s bike, she says. In a video taken by a mall surveillance camera, Tillman is seen talking to Williams and another security employee, gesticulating with her arms and pointing before she biked away, the Times noted.

Then according to her lawsuit, Williams grabbed Tilman like “a like a child’s doll, slamming her into parked vehicles, forcibly shoving his forearm into her chest, grabbing her by the hair and body-slamming her into the pavement.” Williams is also accused of holding Tilman’s bike against her throat before he tasered and arrested her.

Ironically, she was charged with resisting arrest and assaulting an officer, but the judge dismissed the case claiming that the video proved that her arrest was unwarranted.

According to the paper, when Tillman, now 17, looks at the videos of her attack, she is “shocked.”

“I feel like I was targeted because I am a person of color. It was frustrating because I knew I didn’t do anything wrong, but I couldn’t stop them.” She added, “You hear about this kind of thing happening across the nation. but it is also happening right here.”

We will be watching to see how the city handles this suit.

A Georgia woman who fought off two carjackers told the news that she forgives them.

On Saturday night, Jasmine Warren fought back against two men who attacked her and tried to steal her car at a gas station, NBC News reported. The two punched and dragged Warren while fought back and drove off with her car physically unharmed.

“This young man came up to me with a gun in my face, and in that very instant, I knew I wanted to do something about it,” Warren told NBC affiliate WXIA. “I wasn’t going to let him try to take my stuff from me.” She also said the two men looked frightened even though one pointed a gun at her. “They were just as scared as I was. When I looked at that little boy’s eyes he was just as scared as me. Honestly he was fumbling. It was a lot,” she told WXIA.

While police are looking for the suspects, she stresses that she “forgives them.”

“You’re wrong for trying to rob from me. It’s not the end of the world for you. It doesn’t mean that you can’t change and make changes in your life,” she says hoping the men will hear her words.
