Tuesday evening Janelle Monae arrived at Cipriani in New York City to be honored at the Gordon Parks Foundation Gala.

The talented artist wore a Barbara Bui caped dress with a fringe. She paired the look with a Naeem Khan clutch and Brian Atwood heels. I love that she added a pop of color with a pink lip and nails: hello, Spring! She sprinkled statement rings throughout her fingers for added appeal. While Janelle is known to wear mainly black and white, she served chic factor in this all black ensemble.
The singer received an award for her next project with actresses Taraji P. Henson and Octavia Spencer. She is involved in the upcoming film “Hidden Figures,” which is based on Margot Lee Shetterly’sbook “Hidden Figures: The Story of the African-American Women Who Helped Win the Space Race.”
