According to reports, Talib was shot in the leg after a fight ensued at a strip club along Stemmons Corridor in Dallas. Following the incident, Talib was taken to the hospital in his Rolls Royce. J.K. Rowling Shuts Down Critics of Hermione Being Played By A Black Actress
Author J.K. Rowling, creator of the Harry Potter empire, has received tons of backlash for deciding to choose a Black actress to play the role of Hermione Granger for the play Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. Although Hermione was played by Emma Watson in the film series, the novel doesn’t accentuate the characters’ racial background. During a recent interview, Rowling shut down the critics. “With my experience of social media, I thought that idiots were going to idiot. But what can you say? That’s the way the world is. Noma was chosen because she was the best actress for the job,” she said. “I had a bunch of racists telling me that because Hermione ‘turned white’ – that is, lost colour from her face after a shock – that she must be a white woman, which I have a great deal of difficulty with. But I decided not to get too agitated about it and simply state quite firmly that Hermione can be a black woman with my absolute blessing and enthusiasm.” The play is slated to make its debut in London’s West End in July.
