According to results from an independent autopsy, Keith Lamont Scott, who was killed by a Charlotte-Mecklenburg police officer on Sept. 20, was shot in the back.
According to the Associated Press, the autopsy, performed on Sept. 30 by forensic pathologist Kim Collins, concluded that the cause of death “is best deemed homicide.” The report also confirmed that Scott suffered gunshot wounds to his left back, left abdomen and left wrist. He also suffered rib and wrist fractures.
Police claimed that Scott had a gun, which is family denies.
“All we want to know is why,” Rakeyia Scott said on CBS News.
“Why did you have to take Keith that day? … Give us a reason, because everything that you’re saying right now, it just makes me angrier each day because I just keep hearing more stuff.”
Meanwhile, the county medical examiner’s autopsy results have not been released.
9-Year-Old Conn. Girl Banned From Soccer Game Because of Her Hairstyle

Well it pains me to have to be dealing with my current situation with the #AYSO I feel it absolutely necessary to be addressed on #internationaldayofthegirl. My 9 year old daughter, who has supported and been a participant in #AYSOsoccer for 5 years was not allowed to play in her game this past #Saturday because of her hair. My daughter has worn the same hairstyle for sports for as long as she's been playing and this is the first time it's been an issue. Her #AfricanAmerican hair is a different texture and is treated differently than #Caucasian hair. We found a child friendly style that allows her to play sports and still be a little girl. My daughter is the real #MVP because though she was publicly humiliated, she was the epitome of sportsmanship cheering her team from the bench. My husband and I combed the handbook for rules on braided hair secured with beads and found nothing. My daughter offered to tie her hair in a tight scrunchie and was denied. I have reached out to #AYSOcoorporate and have received no response. @ayso_soccer #iamnotmyhair #soccermom #soccergirl #soccer#unselfie
For the past six years, nine-year-old Aubrey Zvovushe-Ramos has played in the American Youth Soccer Organization (AYSO) rocking the same hairstyle–braids with beads on the end. Yet last weekend, a referee told her she wasn’t allowed to play in that game unless she took the beads out instantly, says Think Progress.
Aubrey’s mother, Amy Zvovushe-Ramos, offered to tie Aubrey’s braids up with a Scrunchie so they wouldn’t flap, but the referee refused, and Aubrey sat on the bench the entire game.
“I felt she was singled out,” Amy Zvovushe-Ramos, said.
“She’s the only African American on the team. We go to the salon for an hour and a half— it’s not as simple as ‘pull the beads out.’”
While the AYSO’s handbook does not allow jewelry and metal and plastic hair clips, it says nothing about beads, Think Progess noted. But on Wednesday, the AYSO said that beads are considered jewelry despite the handbook not clearly stating that.
“It’s rough for [Aubrey]. She’s being strong, but it was definitely a difficult weekend,” said Zvovushe-Ramos.
“On Saturday night she couldn’t sleep. She still wants to play soccer, but I don’t know what to do moving forward.”
Trump Reportedly Called Deaf Apprentice Star Marlee Matlin ‘Retarded’
Another day, another story is published exposing Donald Trump’s past offensive behavior.
This time it’s three longtime staffers from “The Apprentice” who have said that during the 2011 season of the show, the Republican presidential nominee referred to deaf celebrity candidate and Academy Award-winning actress Marlee Matlin as “retarded.’
According to The Daily Beast, Trump allegedly would regularly disrespect the actress and would even treat her as if she were mentally disabled. The insults would be behind her back and even to her face. He would also make fun of his voice.
“[Trump] would often equate that she was mentally retarded,” said one source.
“He would write notes on his blotter, his papers in front of him, and he would scribble notes in it,” another source described. “It was usually just asinine things on them.”
“She responded [to him], she stood up for herself,” the source said, but naturally that footage never made it to the air.
Matlin didn’t confirm that these accusations were true, but blasted the use of anyone being called “retarded” and acknowledged how often people with disabilities are mocked and discriminated against.
“It’s not about insults or taking each other down. As a person who is Deaf, as a woman, as a mom, as a wife, as an actor, I have a voice. And I’m using that voice to make myself heard…and vote.”
This past January, Matlin confirmed on Twitter that she would be voting for Hillary Clinton.
