La La Anthony has conquered being an MTV VJ, a television hostess, a reality star, a fashion designer, an author and now she has set her sights on the world of scripted television. Last year she released her best-selling book The Power Playbook, which was all about professional success and financial independence and now it is being turned into a drama series at Lifetime, with a bonafide “queen” coming on board as a producer.

As a follow-up to her popular The Love Playbook detailing how to make love and relationships work, La La Anthony’s companion book The Power Playbook was not only a best-seller, apparently it caught the attention of TV executives who have decided to use it as the basis for a new dramatic series on Lifetime network. The best part is that the in-development series is set to be produced by Queen Latifah. Industry insider Shadow and Act has further details on the series and more.

Via Shadow and Act:

La La Anthony, Meryl Poster (“Girlfriends’ Guide To Divorce”) and Queen Latifah (via her Flavor Unit production shingle with business partner Shakim Compere) have teamed up to adapt Anthony’s New York Times bestseller “The Power Playbook,” as a drama series for Lifetime.

Described as an empowering guide to forging professional success, establishing financial independence, and finding balance for a satisfying life, “The Power Playbook” (published in 2015), is a follow-up/companion piece to Anthony’s “The Love Playbook.” The Lifetime scripted serial adaptation will be an ensemble drama that centers on a group of women who, as the press release states, “use sports strategies to help in both their personal and professional lives. Through incredible highs and devastating lows, they stick together through life’s twists and turns.”

“I’m beyond thrilled to be partnering with Meryl Poster, who I’ve admired as the ultimate power player for many years,” said Anthony. In addition to Queen] Latifah and her Flavor Unit partner Shakim Compere, [along with] Meryl Poster [and] La La Anthony, Neena Beber (“Ballers”) who will [write the] script [for] the adaptation.

This sounds pretty promising! VH1 is certainly increasing their slate of original programming, including the hip-hop series The Breaks which debuts in January and the soapy Daytime Divas debuting in spring 2017.
