A woman who appeared on the first season of MTV’s popular reality series 16 & Pregnant has been charged with felony involuntary manslaughter in Georgia.

As reported by Fox 5 Atlanta, Whitney Blake Purvis has been arrested and charged in connection with a fatal drug overdose in Rome. The arrest follows an investigation into the death of John Mark Harris, who was found deceased on February 16, 2025, from an overdose involving a dangerous drug combination known as “Tranq.”

According to police records, officers responded to a home on 8th Street in Rome, where they discovered Harris’s body alongside suspected drug paraphernalia. Authorities allege that Purvis supplied Harris with “Tranq,” a mixture of Xylazine and Fentanyl, which led to his fatal overdose.

The arrest comes just over a month after the death of Purvis’s 16-year-old son, Weston Gosa Jr., last month. The family noted that Weston Jr. had significant health issues, including Addison’s Disease and diabetes. However, an official autopsy is pending. It was previously reported that Purvis was not permitted to attend her son’s funeral services, with Purvis accusing her son’s father of telling her the wrong time on purpose.

This is not Purvis’s first encounter with the law. She has previously faced charges for shoplifting and contempt of court related to child support payments. However, the current charge of involuntary manslaughter marks a significant escalation in legal severity.

The case highlights the ongoing dangers of “Tranq,” a drug combination that has been linked to a growing number of overdose deaths. Authorities continue to warn about the lethal risks associated with substances like Xylazine and Fentanyl.

This story is still developing, and further updates are expected as the case progresses.
