The new World Trade Center is now New York City’s tallest building, according to The Associated Press.

On Monday, workers added steel columns to the unfinished structure, making it just over 1,250 feet tall. It is now taller than the Empire State Building. “Freedom Tower,” its official name, is expected to be completed in 2013.

The Associated Press has more:

“This project is much more than steel and concrete. It is a symbol of success for the nation,” said David Samson, chairman of the Port Authority, the agency that owns the World Trade Center.

But would you be willing to work there? As America celebrates this symbolic milestone, one has to wonder if many of us would put our patriotism (and bodies) in an office in the New World Trade Center five days a week?
