There are two kinds of MCs–ones that can tell a good story and ones that have a good story to tell. Every so often fans get lucky and come across an artist that has both the skill and life narrative to make them compelling. Brooklyn’s Torae is one of those rare artists.
After releasing the collaborative project Double Barrel in 2009 with producer Marco Polo, the native of the Coney Island Projects released his first solo album, For The Record, in 2011. The CD featured production from hip-hop elite like DJ Premier, Pete Rock, Diamond D, 9th Wonder and more. Now Torae will be partnering with TheUrbanDaily to release a series of mini-documentaries that share the experience he had recording that album and his grind as an independent artist.
