It’s a sad day in the television community. Our beloved fashion police host , mother, and comedian has left us. At a tender age of 81, Emmy winning Joan Rivers peacefully passed away at 1:17 due to complications with throat surgery.
NBC NEWS reports Rivers was undergoing surgery on her vocal cords at a clinic in New York City on Aug. 28 when she stopped breathing and had to be transported to Mount Sinai Hospital. Melissa Rivers and Joan Rivers’ 13-year-old grandson, Cooper, who live in Malibu, California, rushed to her bedside.
“My mother’s greatest joy in life was to make people laugh,” Melissa Rivers said in a statement. “Although that is difficult to do right now, I know her final wish would be that we return to laughing soon.”
NY DAILY NEWS reports Within hours, doctors placed the “Fashion Police” host in an induced coma in order to further assess the damage, as it is still unclear how long she went without oxygen.
Just four days ago, Rivers was on life support when celebs took to twitter to express well wishes and prayers for a speedy recovery. Today we are saying goodbye to a legend who was never afraid to speak her mind and bring you guaranteed laughs. Rest peacefully.
