If you would like to be featured on 93.9 WKYS New Music Monday please submit your song in an MP3 format, your photo, your bio and contact information to our DMV’s OWN page and every Monday we will feature a deserving local artist.

This week’s featured artist is GWN.

How long have you been involved in music?

Individually, we have all been doing music for our entire life. As a Group, we all started making music our Freshman year at Howard University which was in 2008.

What are your songs about? How would you describe your music for the public audience?

Our songs are mainly about Peace and Love and real life experiences that we have all encountered. Everything about our music has a positive light to it.

What would you say has been your challenge for you as an artist?

The hardest challenge for us as an artist is being in college and trying to reach masses. It very difficult to travel and do shows and promote our music in other areas, but it won’t be a problem much longer since we are all seniors.

What would you say has been your biggest break, thus far in your music career?

We’ve had several breaks recently, one including being able to record in a professional recording studio (House Studio DC) and getting our music over to Legendary Industry Executive Andre Harrell. Both opportunities are helping us develop and discover ourselves.

What makes you and your music stand out from the rest?

Our music is authentic. Real musicians speaking about real life.

What message do you want to send to your listeners?

We would to express that positivity, Love, God, Beauty and Integrity are not out of style. They just were forgotten a bit.  We hope to advance the art form.
