This week’s featured artist is Heir.

Introduce yourself to the world.

The name is Heir ( Air ) not her lol. I find much strength within myself through music and everything I live or desire to live I express that through my own music and movement. I’m young, quite flashy as expected, but I’m also refined and mean business at all times. I handle my own and keep 10 toes down while my back wheels burn rubber and everyone observes my takeoff, even I. Southeast, D.C is where I was born and raised and I represent for those who live just to see their family LIVE. I represent for those whose RIBS used to touch but now they too big.

When laying down the track in the studio, how do you like your sessions?

I enjoy sessions filled with overly creative and open minded, artistic individuals.  I always ask for feedback and I relish the chances I get to work in conjunction with others who use music as their canvas to paint their reality in as many colors or shades of black and grey as they feel necessary at that point in time. Dancing, head bobbing and lyric mumbling is preferred lol.

What are some of your musical influences?

First and foremost Jay-Z is by far my biggest musical influence. His charisma and pension for saying what needs to be said is uncanny.

Kanye is a close second because he just doesn’t back down! He’ll put everything into whatever he does and I go through that everyday. Kanye and I share the same birthday ( June 8 ) so I feel we may both be tainted or blessed in some weird way lol.

50 Cent is just that dude any way you try to put it. He makes moves. New York is definitely my home away from home.

Drake, Weeknd, Anthony Hamilton, J.Cole, Nipsey Hussle and Future round out my biggest influences at this exact time but the list really goes on and on.

How long does it take to write/produce a song?

I usually write songs within 1 hour I believe, but lately I’ve been feeling everything so easily that it probably takes 30 – 40 minutes to write something I’d consider sharing with the general public.

Good music is so hard to find, what would you like your listener’s to walk away with?

I’d love for my listeners to walk away with a song that they have to have on rewind for at least the first 3 plays. I make songs that are direct derivatives of my everyday life experiences and thoughts. I need the listeners to be able to feel as though I’m driving around the city or on a tour bus and we’re having the deepest heart to heart. I infuse soul with modern styles because soul is the breath of life and we as people become more modern every second.

Are you looking to sign with a major or indie label?

I’m looking to sign with a major label honestly, but with my ingenuity, dedication and hunger for unrivaled success an indie label wouldn’t remain indie for too long as long as I’m on the roster. I’m also incorporating my own label so as I mentioned earlier, I’m business at all times.
