The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Foundation recognizes the contributions of those who have significantly impacted the evolution, development, and perpetuation of rock and roll by inducting them into the Hall of Fame. Eric B. & Rakim, War, Donna Summer, Rufus with Chaka Khan, and The Spinners are among those nominated for induction into the Class of 2012.

Besides performers, inductees comprise the following categories: non-performers (songwriters, producers, record executives, DJs, journalists, other industry professionals); early influences; and sidemen. To be eligible for induction, the artist must have released its first single or album 25 years ago. Inductees will be announced in the coming weeks, with the ceremony scheduled for April 14, 2012.

And the 2012 nominees are: Beastie Boys; The Cure; Donovan; Eric B. & Rakim; Guns ‘N Roses; Heart; Joan Jett and The Blackhearts; Freddie King; Laura Nyro; Red Hot Chili Peppers; Rufus with Chaka Khan; The Small Faces/The Faces; The Spinners; Donna Summer; and War.

The 150,000 square-foot museum is located in Cleveland, Ohio and features seven floors, five theaters for films, free public programs, special exhibits, and special events. For more information, visit rockhall.com.
